ORBCOMM launches next-gen satellites
ORBCOMM, a global provider of M2M solutions, is taking its network to an even higher level of functionality, performance and service with the launch of OG2, its next generation of satellites.
As part of its $230 million satellite network expansion program, ORBCOMM launched its first six next-generation OG2 satellites on 14 July 2014. ORBCOMM anticipates launching the remaining 11 OG2 satellites in the Q1 or Q2 timeframe of 2015 to complete its next-generation constellation.
OG2 is expected to have a direct and immediate impact on enhancing the network’s performance and service for customers across a wide range of industries and assets, which translates to: faster message delivery; increased data rates; larger message capacity; broader global coverage; smaller antennas; lower power consumption.
OG2 offers increased throughput, faster data transmission speed and advanced technology, ensuring its customers’ mission-critical communications are more efficient, reliable and globally available.
