AEEMA moves forward with digital suppliers forum

AEEMA has held information sessions for digital television and radio suppliers in Melbourne and Sydney, following the decision by the AEEMA Board to form the Australian Digital Suppliers Industry Forum (ADSIF) earlier this year.

In establishing ADSIF, chief executive, Angus M Robinson, said AEEMA is responding to demands from suppliers of digital television and radio products for a more coordinated approach in addressing the planning and implementation issues related to digital television and radio in Australia. AEEMA is also cognisant of the expressed needs of government to be able to deal directly with a single industry voice for digital suppliers.

At the information sessions, information was provided about AEEMA's involvement in digital television, connected home, telematics, energy efficiency projects and various ICT industry sectors.

Also addressing the forum, AEEMA representatives Tim O'Keefe and Keith Jones provided an overview of the current policy settings, the proposed timetables for digital television and digital radio, and key product planning issues for suppliers for 2007-08.

"There is no doubt that a single powerful voice for suppliers was necessary to ensure a clear position was being put to government on key issues such as digital TV switch-over, testing and conformance and the need for more content to drive demand," interim ADSIF chairman, Ross Henderson said.
