The TAT8800 range of amplifiers is fabricated using GaAs to deliver performance with low noise and is optimised to deliver lower costs for CATV operators.

The TAT8807 and TAT8857 are 75 Ω radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) amplifiers that work on 24 V for applications up to 1000 MHz.

This gain may be adjusted by varying external components, and this flexibility enables CATV hybrid module builders to develop entire families of modules around a single RFIC.

The devices are claimed to be the first to apply on-chip linearisation fabricated in a single-die GaAs integrated circuit developed specifically for CATV networks. By incorporating this technology, they provide a solution that consumes little power and yields a higher gain than other products.

The result is a compact, reliable, high-performance RFIC that takes up to a third less power while maintaining high RF output.

Designed for use in CATV line auditors and CATV system amplifiers and distribution nodes, the family, made by TriAccess, is fabricated with GaAs technology using TriQuint Semiconductor’s commercial foundry GaAs process for fabricating the range.

By integrating amplifier and linearisation, they achieve both good 2nd and 3rd order distortion performance and operate within a bandwidth of 50-1000 MHz with a gain of 25 dB and consume 350 mA from a 24 V supply.
