The connectBlue Bluetooth v4.0 low energy technology (BLE) enables new Bluetooth devices to operate for months or even years on tiny, coin-cell batteries. BLE is particularly suitable for sensors, actuators and other small devices that require low power consumption. The technology is also suitable for demanding industrial and medical applications.

The modules are iOS compatible with Apple support for BLE on iPad/iPhones with no required signing of an Apple MFI. They are also compatible with Android. connectBlue modules for low power Bluetooth and dual-mode versions that include both Bluetooth low energy technology and classic Bluetooth technology are available. Dual-mode implementation enables parallel connection of a number of classic Bluetooth single-mode modules (OBS410/411/etc) as well a number of Bluetooth low energy single-mode modules (OLS426) to a Bluetooth dual-mode module (OBS421). Bluetooth dual-mode modules can also be connected to one another.
