Toroid filters

Steward has introduced toroids for common mode and differential mode filtering.

The filters have been introducted to meet the needs of switchmode power supplies.

Many of these supplies generate noise at high frequencies. This noise can and will disturb many types of electronic equipment. In most cases a common mode filter is needed, a toroid using a higher permeability soft ferrite material.

Selection of the material grade is important, and the company recommends that if high frequency noise is below 1.5 MHz use the 40 material. If the noise is above, the 35 material is a better choice.

For even higher frequency filters or for some basic power transformers, the Power 63 material is suitable.
