Dataforth Corporation has introduced its DSCL25 DIN rail or panel mount isolator with input signal fault detect.

This isolator provides a simple low-cost solution for providing 2300 VRMS-transformer isolation protection for analogue signals in the range of four to 20 mA, and fault monitoring of the input signal.

It is designed for preventing the transfer of interference voltages or currents and for breaking signal distorting ground loops.

The DSCL25 provides 2300 VRMS I/O isolation and 3700 VRMS power supply to I/O isolation. Two model versions are offered that accept universal power of either 24 to 60 V AC/DC or 85 to 230 V AC/DC, with the AC usage accepting 45 to 400 Hz power.

Provision is made for monitoring the input circuit for a short or open and respond if a fault is detected. Response for an input signal fault is lighting a front panel red LED, setting the output signal to a maximum or minimum value, and energising the fault detect relay.

In addition to detecting input faults, the DSCL25 provides isolated power to a two-wire transmitter connected to the input side.

The fault detect output relay is a SPDT with a contact rating of 2 A at 250 VAC and 1 A at 250 VDC. Input fault limits are: open equals less than 3.6 mA and short equals greater than 21 mA.
