The Padless Touch Sensor is a solid-state touch control technology that uses signal generation and detection to provide an alternative to membrane switches, mechanical keyboards and solid-state keyboards.
Appliance controls, industrial process controls, automotive, kiosks, point-of-sale terminals and medical equipment are among the many applications where the PTS technology can be applied.
The open architecture design of the PTS allows for easy integration into existing control switch applications.
Any dielectric material including glass, plastic, polycarbonate, marble, and wood can be used for touch surfaces. Custom graphics can be printed directly onto these surfaces and key size can be designed to users' requirements.
Options include backlight, lit keys, tactile response, or simulated potentiometer. The response time, once the PTS is touched, is less than 4 ms per key. The device operates in temperatures ranging from -20 to +150°C.
