Secure Communication Systems has released Air Warrior II - Electronic Data Manager, a kneeboard computer system that is a rugged, lightweight and portable which uses the Windows XP Professional operating system in a configuration optimised for wearable, kneeboard requirements.

The unit is constructed using a two-piece aluminium alloy chassis and weighs about 1.2 kg. The unit is designed to meet the environmental requirements of army helicopter airborne applications.

The CPU runs at 1 GHz and supports up to 1 GB of onboard RAM while operating at low power. The system features the VIA Graphics UniChrome Pro IGP graphics core that supports both 2D and 3D graphics.

A 6.4" diagonal LCD with an integrated touch panel provides the system human interface. The transflective display is 640 x 480 pixels with up to 262 K colours, sunlight readable and dimmable to less than 1.5 cd/m2 for night vision.

It features a sealed internal hard disk drive with up to 30 GB of capacity. The system also contains SecureDisk hardware encryption (Secure Communications Proprietary feature). The system uses 1.8" drives that are rugged and low power.
