Interbus for the PC

Tuesday, 16 October, 2001 | Supplied by: Phoenix Contact Pty Ltd

Developed especially as a low-cost variant, the IBS ISA RI/I-T module from Phoenix Contact is suitable for integrating a PC into an existing Interbus network while offering good communication characteristics.

For example, where I/O data are to be exchanged with superordinate PLC/PC control systems for synchronisation, the data length can be freely scaled from one to 16 data words. With just a few commands the driver interface allows a consistent data exchange via Interbus. Configuration is done with a few DIP switches.

If, in addition, larger quantities of data are to be transmitted acyclically, for example to store quality data in the superordinate system, the PCP protocol is provided in the firmware. Such data are communicated to and from the control system through predefined communication objects, at a maximum throughput of 240 data words in parallel in both directions, without any additional configuration.
