Quatech's range of RS232/422/485 ethernet serial device servers is now available with RJ45 modular connectors making it possible to connect all four- and two-wire twisted pair serial devices directly to an ethernet network.

The servers are available in two, four and eight port models. The ThinQ 100M series provide single protocol RS232 communication ports while the 400M series has multi-protocol RS232, RS422 and RS485 configurable ports.

The servers provide native serial ports via an ethernet-based interface using a number of standard protocols including TCP/IP and HTTP. Ethernet is the networking option of choice for a range of applications in industrial control, retail and banking. However, most of these applications use RS232 or RS422/485 serial equipment that cannot be directly connected to a LAN/WAN.

These servers bridge the gap by providing multiple serial ports that appear as standard COM ports on a PC. They are then connected to an ethernet network from where they can be remotely monitored and controlled.

In addition, they allow standard serial equipment to be accessed via ethernet without rewriting any legacy application software.

The devices are powered by 32 bit integrated communication processors with onboard web servers that can be accessed remotely via a standard web browser.

They support many standard network protocols including UDP, TCP/IP, HTTP, DHCP, and ARP over 10Base-T and 100Base-T. Serial port support including full modem control is provided for Windows 2000/XP and Linux.
