DSP Cores Support

Enea OSE Systems announces that the OSE real-time operating system (RTOS) will expand to include Texas Instruments' TMS320C55x and TMS320C64x generations of DSPs.

The C55x DSP generation is specifically designed for power-efficient applications such as mobile phones and other portable wireless devices. The C64x DSP generation delivers DSP performance for applications including broadband and wireless communications infrastructure.

Code-compatibility will enable many software companies to port to the C55x and C64x DSPs.

The products will offer complete code-compatibility with predecessors C62x and C54x DSPs, enabling fast implementation and ROI. Both DSP generations will be useful in data and telecom applications, where performance and power requirements are critical to technology developments.

Enabling next-generation communications applications the RTOS' communication capabilities currently support many distributed applications using a wide range of DSPs and traditional CPUs, often within the same system. The advantage is a heterogeneous system with a common application API.

The transparent interprocess communication method operates seamlessly across geographical and platform-specific boundaries. Already implemented in mobile communication devices and base stations worldwide, OSE-based applications can seamlessly integrate TI's DSP cores, reducing time-to-market in the development of next-generation communications applications.

For applications such as wireless internet, OSE will enable development using individual DSPs or in conjunction with a host of other processors and processor types.
