Exair cabinet coolers, available from CompressAir Technologies, are a way to cool and purge electronic control panels.

They incorporate a vortex tube to produce cold air from compressed air - with no moving parts. The cooler can be installed in minutes through a standard electrical knockout. NEMA 4, 4X and 12 cabinet coolers that match the NEMA rating of the enclosure are available in many cooling capacities for large and small control panels.

The vortex tubes incorporated in the coolers are constructed of stainless steel. The wear, corrosion and oxidation resistance of stainless steel ensures long life and maintenance-free operation.

The coolers are available with or without thermostat control. The continuous coolers are recommended when constant cooling and a constant positive purge are desirable. The thermostatically controlled systems save air by activating the cooler only when internal temperatures approach critical levels.

The adjustable thermostat is factory set at 35°C. Thermostatic systems are recommended where heat load fluctuates and continual purge is not required.

The cabinets are made to specific environmental requirements: NEMA 12 (dust-tight, oil-tight) - for general industrial environments where no liquids or corrosives are present; NEMA 4 (dust-tight, oil-tight, splash resistant, indoor/outdoor service) incorporate a low-pressure relief valve for both the vortex tube and cabinet air exhaust; NEMA 4X offer the same protection as NEMA 4 but are constructed of 304 stainless steel for corrosive areas; high temperature units for ambients of 52 to 93°C are available; non-hazardous purge systems are for dirty areas where contaminants might normally pass through small holes or conduits. Under normal conditions, NHP Cabinet Coolers Systems provide a slight positive pressure in the enclosure by passing 1 SCFM of air through the cooler.
