Videoconferencing for Chinese agriculture
Tuesday, 11 May, 2004
Polycom will implement a nationwide videoconferencing network for China's Ministry of Agriculture.
The satellite-based network will comprise one Polycom MGC 50 network system and 46 iPower Series (9000, 900 and 680s) videoconferencing units.
This is the first time that Polycom has deployed its products over a satellite-based IP network in China, which was built according to the H.323 standard instead of the usual H.320 for ground-based infrastructure.
Spanning more than 37 regional offices located in 31 provinces and autonomous regions, the network forms a key cornerstone in the MOA's plan to enhance communications across its widely dispersed departments and affiliates.
The system will enable the MOA to hold efficient and cost-effective audio meetings, organise face-to-face videoconferencing across multiple locations and prepare multimedia network conferences.
