Test Facility Opened
REDlab, a test laboratory for the development of telecommunications, opto-electronics and high-tech electronics products, was officially opened in Melbourne this week.
REDlab is using the existing laboratory of CEOS Pty Ltd, along with additional expanded facilities, in order to meet the test requirements of the future.
The facilities provide shared access to R&D test instruments for more than 28 organisations including universities, small to medium enterprises, co-operative research centres and larger established companies.
"The laboratory meets an urgent industry need and is a giant step towards the development of emerging technologies in Australia...." said Dr Jonathon Spring, CEOS Managing Director.
REDlab had five founding members including CEOS, Redcentre, Nokia, Pacific Broadband Networks and the Australia Photonics Co-operative Research Centre.
Industry Association Members pay a nominal fee for access to the laboratory with the majority of these funds contributing to the purchase of additional laboratory instruments.
Agilent Technologies has supported REDlab by providing test instruments for the laboratory to aid R&D projects within the industry.
