Storage technology supports virtualised environment

Thursday, 29 November, 2007

Network Appliance has teamed with Oracle to strengthen virtualised infrastructures with powerful server and storage solutions.

Oracle VM is a server virtualisation software that supports both Oracle and non-Oracle applications. NetApp complements and strengthens Oracle VM with storage solutions that are suited for users’ virtualised environments.

Traditionally, companies deployed IT systems that were specific to each application, resulting in silos of IT infrastructures that became more challenging to manage as they grew.

The companies have teamed up to provide users an enterprise class infrastructure that combines the benefits of grid computing and virtualisation technologies. The companies enable users to pool shared resources to rapidly respond to changing business environments and to create a resilient, highest availability infrastructure for all business and mission-critical applications and databases.
