Solar Plant Opens
Wednesday, 13 June, 2001
Sustainable Technologies International has opened a new factory in Queanbeyan, to manufacture its Australian-developed solar wall panels and tiles.
The factory opening was an endeavour that began in 1985 with research into solar cells and sol-gel coatings followed in 1994 by initiation of collaboration with EPFL in Switzerland.
The cell technology can perform in low light and shade. Unlike silicon solar cells, the Titania cells also perform over a wide range of temperatures. This technology has the capacity to provide low cost solar energy supply to buildings, remote sites and businesses across the world.
