Motorola plans further job cuts
Sunday, 14 October, 2001
Motorola has just said that it expects sales from ongoing operations in the fourth quarter of 2001 to be 0% to 3% higher versus the third quarter of 2001.
Despite this improvement, which is expected to come largely as a result of savings from cost-reduction actions, the company plans a further 7000 job losses on top of the 39,000 job losses already announced in 2001. Of the new job losses 4000, are from the sale of subsidiaries to other companies, so this leaves 3,000 job cuts earmarked for loss through cuts and attrition.
