Mobile WiMAX agreement signed
Beceem Communications, provider of terminal chipsets for Mobile WiMAX, has entered into an agreement with D-Link, Taiwanese consumer and enterprise networking equipment provider.
D-Link will sell Mobile WiMAX products based on the BCS200 chipset under the D-Link brand to Mobile WiMAX subscribers, with commercial shipments of the products expected in the first quarter of 2008.
“The time to enter the WiMAX market is now and we intend to use our existing channels to establish D-Link as the leading provider of value-added enterprise and consumer networking products that are now also enabled with Mobile WiMAX,” said Jeffrey Kuo, VP of Business solutions for D-Link.
“Mobile WiMAX capabilities are important and will extend the appeal of our products beyond their current market base; it will boost the application by VoIP, IP camera, video conference for mobile data access. Beceem BCS 200’s power-saving and compact module size advantage allows us to develop the right product with wanted form factor and performance.”
