Infineon, Schreiner, Prosecure and Utsch of Germany have developed Iltag, a digital license plate that can store information on an Infineon RFID chip with antenna.

The tag can then be displayed on the inside of the windscreen. It can store up to 1000 characters including names of all authorised drivers, registration and insurance information. It can also store electronic money units which can be used to obtain fuel and payment of parking fees.

Police and RTA could have access to short-range tag readers which can view the information on the license tag.
