ANZECC National Shared Product Stewardship
Thursday, 07 December, 2000
Representatives of AEEMA, and its partner forum the Consumer Electronics Suppliers Association (CESA), attended a workshop at Environment Australia to further progress the development of a draft ANZECC National Shared Product Stewardship Agreement for the Electrical and Electronic Industry.
The primary objective of the agreement is to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic products on the environment through a nationally consistent, whole-of-industry approach to minimising waste and resource use in the industry.
The draft agreement sets out the general framework under which sectoral annexes will be developed to allow industry sectors to meet the particular challenges of waste streams for that sector.
The proposed Major Appliances Material Project will provide information that industry can use to develop future projects, in particular the Major Appliances Annex.
AEEMA's James Galloway and industry representatives are participating in the development of the stewardship agreement, the sectoral annexes and the material project.
