Acer is now Benq
Monday, 10 December, 2001
The company formerly known as Acer Communications and Multimedia has changed its name to Benq.
Stan Shih, Acer co-founder, CEO and chairman, believes the time is right for the group to build its own identity rather than battle on with the Acer tag, which he argues is perceived as a PC company by consumer and OEM customers.
Benq will be officially launched globally in March 2002, and branded products are expected in the Australian channel inventory by February 2002.
