Tektronix has released the DPO4000 digital phosphor oscilloscopes (DPOs), a portable series of models developed on a new generation platform.
The family ranges from 350 MHz to 1 GHz and offers the Wave Inspector a set of tools for discovery and efficient viewing, navigating and analysing waveform data.
With its serial triggering, protocol decode, USB plug-and-play PC connectivity and 10.4" XGA display, the unit is claimed to have the smallest footprint in its class.
Debugging often requires the capture of significant amounts of waveform data, the oscilloscope provides 10 M memory.
Long record lengths often represent thousands of screens worth of signal activity. Engineers need to find within this data the information specific to the design problem. Wave Inspector makes simple and efficient work of extracting needed answers.
Wave Inspector also provides a dedicated, two-tier front panel knob for intuitive control for both zooming and panning. A play/pause feature with adjustable speed allows customers to automatically scroll the waveform across the screen while they look for the event of interest.
It also allows the user to search through an acquisition and automatically mark all occurrences of a user-specified event, mark events of interest and navigate between them effortlessly.
The DPO4000 series consists of four models, all with Wave Inspector. The DPO4032 and DPO4034 provide bandwidth of 350 MHz on two and four channels.
DPO4054 provides 500 MHz bandwidth across four channels and the DPO4104 offers 1 GHz bandwidth on four channels. The DPO4104 provides 5 GS/s sampling on all channels while the other models provide 2.5 GS/s on all channels. All models come standard with 10 M record length on all channels and at least 5x oversampling.
The models provide both USB and CompactFlash on the front panel, enabling the easy transfer of screenshots, setups and waveform data. At only 5.4 inches deep it requires less bench space than other produces - and weighs 5kg for enhanced portability.
Using USB, an auto-detect USB plug-and-play dialog appears on the PC immediately on connecting to the oscilloscope. A single click of the mouse then immediately begins the capturing of live measurement data from the oscilloscope and displaying on the PC.
