Fluke 481 radiation survey meter

Wednesday, 29 June, 2011 | Supplied by: Fluke Australia Pty Ltd

The 481 radiation survey meter for industrial radiation safety is a simple, easily deployable handheld radiation detector that lets facility managers check for contamination everywhere it can go, from receiving docks, warehouses, vehicles and packages to people.

The instrument is suitable for detecting radiation on goods, equipment, surfaces or environments.

The meters’ ion chamber, preferred over other devices for its precision accuracy, provides quick, accurate readings of skin dose (beta), deep dose (gamma) and X-ray radiation with two-button operation.

If radiation is found, a clear and quantifiable result lets managers comply with federal guidelines while avoiding unnecessary steps that might halt operations, impact productivity or lead to lost revenue.

The meter works indoors and outdoors due to its rugged sealed case and provides more than a week of continuous operation on two replaceable 9 V batteries. Its automated backlight keeps the meter visible inside truck trailers and in other low-light conditions.
