B&K Precision has released the model 879 dual display auto-ranging LCR meter.

The lightweight, battery-powered, handheld unit can be used to measure capacitance, resistance (of non-inductive components), and inductance in four test frequency ranges.

Its features include: simultaneous display of measured value and Q or dissipation factor; min/max average; relative mode; tolerance test; four selectable test frequency ranges (100, 120 Hz, 1 and 10 kHz); backlit LCD; RS232 interface.

It is a microprocessor-controlled 19999 count, dual display meter that not only takes measurements in parallel mode, but is also capable of series mode measurements.

Front panel push-buttons and controls include selections such as data hold, maximum, minimum and average record mode, relative mode, tolerance sorting mode, frequency, and L/C/R selection. The display is backlit.

The instrument prompts the user when calibration is needed and the dual display shows whether to calibrate with an open or short. Test data can be transferred to a PC through an optional fully isolated optical RS232C interface.
