Baseband signal analyser

The FMU36 is an instrument based on the FSQ with the options FSQ-B71 and FSQ-B70 targeted at the analysis of signals in the baseband.

For this analysis, the FMU35 can be used with probes, where the attenuation of the probes is automatically corrected. Furthermore, to increase the measurement accuracy the probes can be calibrated, and for this the reference point for the measurements is moved from the BNC connector to the tip of the probe.

It contains an FFT analyser based with a bandwidth of 36 MHz on both the I and Q branch, providing a total RF bandwidth of 72 MHz for complex signals. With the FFT base structure, it is possible to analyse signals with high sensitivity also at low frequency.

This is a frequency range where analysers based on the super-heterodyne structure have lower sensitivity. This makes the FMU36 a suitable choice for analysis of low-frequency signals, such as mechanical vibrations, audio signals, ADLS-modems or RFID readers.

The FMU is able to do frequency selective zero span measurements. In the two screenshots, there are two signals next to each other. With the analyser it is possible look at one of them in zero span and, for instance, measure the power of the slots.
