Colour Correction Pixels

Tuesday, 15 May, 2001

Hybrid Electronics and Persistent Vision have developed a technology for producing consistent intensity and colour pixels.

It can be used to produce pixel strips and pixel-array modules, each pixel can be independently controlled in intensity and colour.

The pixels can be used in the manufacture of indoor or outdoor displays. The technology compensates the colour and intensity of supplied LEDs to produce corrected primary colours that are more consistent than those generally provided by the LED manufacturer.

The major benefits of this new technology are: consistent colour and brightness; maximum LED life with lowest mean currents; higher quality displays; lower cost due to the reduction in LED specifications.

The manufacturing process uses thick-film conductors and resistors on an alumina substrate. It incorporates a reflector and addressing circuitry. The available duty-cycle of each LED is 100%. The pixels are 0.2 inches square and diffused to provide uniform brightness over a wide viewing angle.
