PVC-free temperature sensor
Tuesday, 01 July, 2008
With its M3000 series, Epcos has developed a temperature sensor with a PVC-free cable that contains no halogens, environmentally harmful plasticisers or stabilisers with heavy metals.
No corrosive or toxic gases are released in a fire and little smoke is produced.
No dioxins are formed at the end of its life cycle when the product is disposed of.
The sensors follow the M2000 series that has for many years been the leader in reliability tests for refrigerators and freezers.
In the temperature cycling test the M3000 series also withstands a total of 50,000 cycles from -20 to +30°C in water as well as 1000 cycles from -40 to +80°C in air.
The company has also improved the performance of its temperature sensors with cables.
They now offer moisture resistance at temperatures of up to 80°C with a resistance drift significantly below 2% after immersion in water at 80°C for 2000 h and storage at 85°C and 85% relative humidity.
