Phoenix Contact has released the Termitrab Complete range of surge protection devices. The range has over 130 models — from the ultranarrow 3.5 mm units, to simple, single-stage 6 mm surge protection units, right through to multistage devices.

The ultraslim and compact 3.5 mm arrester enables technicians to build smaller systems to protect analog and digital signals transmitted using measurement and control technology (MCR) as well as gain valuable installation space for system planning. The device provides high density for system expansion on the DIN rail, and technicians can quickly and easily expand their systems to protect up to 572 MCR signals per metre.

The 3.5 mm arrester is available as a push-in model, while the 6.2 mm Termitrab arresters provide technicians with considerable choice. Users can choose from versions with screw or push-in connections, knife disconnections, pluggable arrestors and Ex approval, to meet their individual requirements.

The 6.2 mm arrester models feature an integrated status indicator that lets technicians see when the unit has reached its end of life and requires replacing. The indicator on the surge protection device does not require any auxiliary power, and during the disconnection process the measuring signal is unaffected.

Technicians can also choose to install the optional remote signalling module to remotely detect overloaded surge protective devices and maintain the integrity of their system. The module is easy to retrofit and does not require any programming or additional wiring. It uses a photoelectric barrier to monitor the status of up to 40 adjacent protective devices and a floating contact transmits the status to the control room.

The arresters are suitable for 12, 24 and 48 V systems as well as RTD, Tc and serial communications. They are suitable for use in process technology, wind power, water and wastewater treatment, building services and infrastructure. They meet SIL 3 and IEC 61508.
