Vicor DCM in a ChiP package regulated DC-DC converter

Monday, 05 December, 2016 | Supplied by: Vicor Corporation

The Vicor DCM in a ChiP package is an isolated, regulated DC-DC converter, operating from an unregulated, wide range input to generate an isolated DC output.

With its high-frequency zero voltage switching (ZVS) topology, the DCM converter consistently delivers high efficiency across the input line range. Modular DCM converters and downstream DC-DC products support efficient power distribution, providing good power system performance and connectivity from a variety of unregulated power sources to the point-of-load.

Aimed at a variety of applications, including UAV, ground vehicle, radar, transportation and industrial controls, there are four 30 V input nominal modules (9–50 V range) in a 3623 chip package (1.52 x 0.90 x 0.29″). These converters have output voltages of 5, 24, 28, and 48 V, and power levels up to 160 W, achieving a power density up to 404 W/in3

There is also a 28 V input nominal module (16–50 V range) in a 3623 ChiP package with a 3.3 V output at 120 W, a 375 W module with a nominal input voltage of 275 V (120–420 V) and 12 V output in a 4623 ChiP package, and a 270 V input nominal module (160–420 V range) in a 4623 ChiP package with a 48 V output at 500 W (1.89 x 0.90 x 0.29″), achieving a power density of 1014 W/in3.
