Schneider Electric has launched a 1Ph UPS offering into the Australian market. The APC Smart-UPS Ultra 2.2, 3 and 5 kW UPS is compact in design. Despite its size, the offering features a 1.5x increased power density due to the utilisation of next-generation semiconductor and lithium-ion technology. For extended runtime, there is an option to add up to 10 battery packs.
The UPS range is designed for local edge environments and micro data centres to provide consistent connectivity. Alongside its compact size, the offering is also equipped with an auto-rotating LCD display.
Being understaffed or lacking onsite staff can also make management, maintenance and servicing challenging, especially if assets are highly distributed and geographically dispersed. To eliminate this, the offering has been designed to be EcoStruxure IT ready, featuring cloud-based monitoring to deliver data-driven recommendations, while enabling visibility across multiple UPS devices.
The device’s lithium-ion battery is designed to last up to three times longer than a traditional valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) powered UPS and will not need to be replaced under normal operating conditions during the expected battery life of 8–10 years, the company says.
More offerings including the Smart-UPS Ultra 2.2, 3, 8, 10 kW and a Smart-UPS Modular Ultra 5–20 kVA will be added to the suite of products later this year.
