Valen Battery analyser

The Electro Battery and Charger Analyser (BACA) is designed to assist technicians who use 12 and 24 V batteries, and the chargers associated with these.

The BACA is manually programmable, displays the results on an LCD screen and retains detailed information in the memory, which may be downloaded in order to produce a graphic representation of the results.

The unit's capabilities include measuring the capacity of a battery in ampere-hours and displaying the measurement on the LCD and retaining the value in its memory; measuring the charge inserted into a battery and display as above; during the test procedure, data is stored in the BACA and may be downloaded for time/voltage and time/current graphs; and batteries can be cycled and the data of eight cycles retained and held available for assessment.

From the unit's data recording it is possible to extract the following information: exactly how good a battery is - the measured ampere-hour value will be available; whether the charger is performing as quoted and that the battery is being fully charged as designed; and cycling a battery yields interesting results - will the battery improve with use? Often, gel batteries especially improve quite substantially when cycled.
