Samtec Edge Rate connector strips

Samtec’s high-speed Edge Rate product range now includes 0.5 mm pitch connector strips and a right-angle socket. The system offers PCB space savings of up to 40% compared with the first-generation 0.8 mm pitch strips and also features rugged edge rate contacts.

The 0.5 mm pitch connector strips and right-angle socket have performance up to 10.5 and 9.5 GHz, and 8.0 and 9.0 GHz. This performance is achieved with the assistance of its edge rate contact system, which is designed to optimise signal integrity and control impedance by minimising broadside coupling and crosstalk.

The strips are a double-row design with up to 150 I/Os, and are available in stack heights from 7 to 12 mm. The right-angle socket is also double row with up to 100 I/Os. The system features a 1 mm contact wipe, which improves the mating angle tolerance allowing the system to remain robust while ‘zippering’ during mating and unmating.
