Interworld Electronics supplies a range of new-generation PCI Express and ExpressCard serial and parallel adapters.

The PCI Express communication cards are available in 2-, 4- or 6-port RS-232 serial configurations, 2-port parallel as well as combined 2-port parallel plus 4-port serial configurations. Multi-protocol RS-232/422/485 intelligent PCI Express cards with up to 32 serial ports are also available.

The serial ports are based on 16C550 UARTs or custom designed ASICs to provide Baud rates up to 115.2 Kbps or 921Kbps. The PCI Express parallel ports support Standard Parallel Port (SPP), Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP) and Enhanced Capability Port (ECP) operating modes with data transfer rates of up to 1.5 MB/s.

The PCIe-based ExpressCard line supersedes older technology and is engineered for compatibility with new laptop models. The ExpressCards are available in single- and dual-port RS-232 or RS422/485 configurations. A parallel port ExpressCard supporting Bidirectional, ECP and EPP modes is also available.
