National Instruments has announced DAQ Designer 2001, a free CD that helps engineers and scientists interactively configure custom measurement systems.
The 2001 edition includes information on more than 50 new NI measurement products.
The designer recommends system components such as real-time data acquisition control, signal conditioning, analogue and digital measurement devices, instrument controllers, motion control, machine vision, and controller area network devices based on specific user needs.
Users answer questions posed by the package about specific application details, including the type of computer bus and operating system, sensor measurements, imaging or vision inspection requirements, number of channels, bandwidth and accuracy needed, and filtering and isolation requirements.
DAQ Designer then recommends measurement components and software to meet these needs.
The CD includes product descriptions, tutorials, data sheets, and application notes to educate users about NI products.
If the user is connected to the web, the package displays current pricing, links users to a suite of online system configurators, and provides a direct link to NI Developer Zone, an online resource for building measurement and automation systems.
