Phihong has developed what it claims is the smallest, low-cost 2.75 W USB charger.
Measuring 42 x 43 x 21 mm with a weight of 80 g, the PSM03E is compliant with the Energy Star EPS version 2.0 as well as the European Union’s Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC for Energy-related-Products level 2 Annex 1b, and the five-star Standby Power standard.
The small size makes it suitable for wireless communications, peripherals, networking, portable and mobile equipment.
Designed for applications such as MP3 players, PDAs, digital cameras and mobile phones, the charger provides a fully regulated 5 VDC output and a maximum no-load power consumption of <0.03 W. The device is IEEE1725-certified for charging batteries in mobile phones.
The device has a constant-current/constant-voltage feature, which allows for a quick charge on lithium-ion batteries.
The charger also includes a low-profile case that is halogen free and contains short-circuit protection, over-current protection and over-voltage protection.
