XIO2001 PCI express to PCI translation bridge

Friday, 13 November, 2009 | Supplied by: Texas Instruments Australia Ltd

Texas Instruments has introduced the XIO2001, a PCI Express to PCI translation bridge that requires half the board space and provides high throughput.

It is a single-function bridge that provides users with a migration path from conventional PCI to PCI Express technology. Applications include computer motherboards, industrial PCs and control boards, test and measurement boards and surveillance camera capture cards.

The XIO2001 performance tuning tool allows register settings within the bridge to be customised in real time using a graphical user interface, allowing users to tune the bridge for maximum performance. It is said to provide twice the throughput when measuring upstream memory access performance.

Features include: 7 x 7 mm package; an internal arbiter that supports up to six downstream PCI bus masters, eliminating the need for external arbitration devices; integrates buffered clocks, eliminating the need for an external clock buffer; built-in adaptive equalisation improves jitter tolerance so designers can use a longer PCB trace or cable length.
