Designers of machinery used in potentially explosive environments can upgrade to an ATEX-certified optocoupler that has improved performance over other devices.
The CNY65Exi Vishay optocoupler meets the European Union’s ATEX 94/9/EC directive for operation in potentially explosive atmospheres while offering isolation voltage and comparative tracking index.
The device is certified to provide intrinsic safety protection with ATEX certificate PTB 03 ATEX 2033 U. It features isolation voltage of 11,600 and comparative index tracking of 475 according to VDE 0303/DIN 53480. The device fulfils the ATEX gas [II (1) G (Ex ia) IIC] and dust [II (1) D (Ex ia) IIIC] provisions.
The optocoupler uses infrared light to transmit data and control signals from the typically low-voltage control side to high-voltage equipment. The emitter and detector are separated by a distance greater than 3 mm.
The device’s specially moulded plastic package measures 17.8 x 9.6 mm with a height of 6.1 mm. It features multiple current transfer ratio binning options between 50 and 300%.
A low coupling capacity (CK) of 0.3 pF provides good noise immunity between input and output pins.
