Noise suppression chokes from Schaffner cover symmetrical (differential) and asymmetrical (common mode) noise suppression.

The RD series consists of current-compensated chokes, available in dual, triple and quad (three-core) topologies for asymmetric noise suppression applications including EMI input filters, phase-angle control circuits (in combination with the RI series saturating chokes) and for suppression in circuits with no earth connection.

The RD series is designed for line voltages to 600 VAC and 850 AC peak (to 400 Hz)/DC and covers line current ranges from 6 to 64 A.

The series is characterised by good non-saturation properties, retaining over 60% inductance at over twice rated current. Resonance frequencies (maximum attenuation) are generally around 100 kHz.

The Schaffner RN series is suitable for through-hole mounting, has a voltage rating of 250 (to 1 kHz) and rated currents from 0.3 to 10 A. The chokes are available in dual, single core topology and cover application areas similar to the RD series. Non-saturation properties have a retention of typically 80% of inductance in excess of twice rated current.

The EV series is also designed for common mode suppression and low leakage inductance. These chokes have high impedance circuits over a frequency range to 30 MHz and beyond, are rated at 250 VAC (to 400 Hz) and have rated currents from 0.3 to 5 A.

The PC series saturating chokes is designed to be used in applications including switching circuits, changing impedance at the switching point. For best results, the chokes are connected as close as possible to the switching device.

Continuous voltage rating is 500 VAC. Current ratings cover the range from 1.5 to 25 A.
