Silicon Labs’ BGM220P and BGM220S Bluetooth modules are built to meet the performance and security requirements of battery-powered Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Based on the company’s EFR32BG22 Wireless Gecko system-on-chips (SoCs), the modules are a pre-certified, Bluetooth 5.2 solution for wireless networking in applications such as portable medical, connected home, wellness devices, asset tags and beacons. They deliver good RF range and performance, futureproof capability with support for OTA firmware updates, security features and low energy consumption.

The modules support Bluetooth 5.2 Low Energy protocols, with available direction finding and 1M, 2M and LE Coded PHYs, as well as support for a Bluetooth mesh low-power node. They incorporate a low-power wireless SoC with a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M33 core with DSP instruction and floating-point unit for efficient signal processing. The SoC offers 512 KB of flash, 32 KB of RAM and a 2.4 GHz radio with up to 8 (BGM220P) or 6 dBm (BGM220S) of transmit power.

The BGM220P module comes in a 12.9 x 15 x 2.2 mm package, while the BGM220S offers a space-saving 6 x 6 x 1.1 mm footprint. Both modules are FCC, CE, IC/ISEDC, MIC/TELEC and KCC certified and consume just 4.3 mA in 1 Mbps receive mode and 4.8 mA at 0 dB in transmit mode, with a 1.4 μA DeepSleep mode.
