Richardson Electronics has signed a strategic partnership with WJ Communications to represent the global sales channel for its multi-protocol MPR 5000 and MPR 6000 RFID reader cards, available in a standard PCMCIA Type II package.

This form will allow almost any device with a PCMCIA slot to become a 900 MHz multi-protocol RFID reader compliant with all EPC global-approved standards.

Richardson has assembled both a software and a systems developer's kit to be used with the WJ MPR5000 and MPR6000 reader cards. These kits include the reader cards, sample RFID tags, demo software and, in the case of the MPR6000, an external RFID antenna, giving the developer a plug-and-play RFID solution.

The kits make 'RFID simple' for anyone looking to implement or develop RFID technology and can be purchased today for shipment by the end of the year.
