PCI Plug-in Card

A PCI plug-in card has been released that contains two AS-interface (AS-i) masters and makes it possible to operate two independent AS-i networks from a single industrial PC. Consequently, controlling two AS-i networks requires only one of the limited number of slots in the PC.

In addition, the PCI card offers other advantages for the connection of decenral sensors and actuators: the plug-and-play mode means that there is no need for manual configuration settings on the computer.

The standardised OPC interface makes for uncomplicated integration into user programs. A graphic software interface gives assistance with placing the AS-i networks into operation using the PCI card. The AS-i Configuration Tools software, for addressing, parametrisation and monitoring of the network, is included as a demo version.

In addition to allowing installations and machinery to be placed into operation faster, the PCI card also reduces the need for engineering work. Expanded AS-i diagnostic functions locate sporadically occurring faults, increasing the availability of installations and machinery.
