NXP Semiconductors i.MX 7ULP applications processors
The i.MX 7ULP applications processors, from NXP Semiconductors, are based on Arm Cortex-A7 and Cortex-M4 cores with separate isolated domains, and include both 3D and 2D graphics processing units (GPUs). The Cortex-A7 and Cortex-M4 cores enable the device to run a rich operating system like Linux on the Cortex-A7 core and a real-time operating system (RTOS) like FreeRTOS on the Cortex-M4 core.
The processors provide 32 KB of L1 cache instruction memory, 32 KB of L1 cache data memory and 256 KB of L2 cache, as well as 512 KB of SRAM. The versatile processors also support up to 32-bit LPDDR2/LPDDR3 memory interfaces, GPIO, I²C, SPI, UART and USB interface types. The processors offer a deep sleep suspend power consumption of 50 µW in optimised configurations, while low leakage and operating voltage scalability are delivered via reverse and forward body biasing of the transistors.
Based on fully depleted silicon-on-insulator (FD-SOI) technology, the devices support ultralow-power performance and rich graphics for applications such as portable medical devices, smart home controls, wearable devices, gaming accessories, and portable printers and scanners.
