The NXP LX2 QorIQ Layerscape processors comprise the LX2160A, LX2120A and LX2080A, which include 16, 12 and 8 Arm Cortex-A72 processor cores, respectively, delivering high performance of up to 2.2 GHz. The processors are supported by a consistent API providing both simple and complex manipulation of the devices’ hardware peripherals.
The versatile processors feature 16 MB cache, 2 MB packet caching buffer and a 122 Gbps Layer 2 Ethernet switch. They offer up to 16 Ethernet ports, up to 24 PCIe Gen4 lanes and 24 SerDes lanes operating up to 25 GHz. The processors feature scalable data path acceleration logic, as well as the network and bus interfaces required to support applications including storage, networking, wireless infrastructure, military, aerospace and telecommunications.
For designs with size constraints, the LX2162A, LX2122A and LX2082A processors offer the processing capabilities of the LX2xx0A devices in roughly a quarter of the size. Suitable for small boards such as network interface cards and custom daughter cards, the LX2xx2A processors integrate low-power 16 nm FinFET process technology to support high performance in a limited form factor.
