MTC600 series power modules

Emerson Network Power has launched a series of compact self-contained units for MicroTCA systems.

Fully compliant with the PICMG MicroTCA.0 revision 1.0 specification, the MTC600 series power modules are available in AC and DC-input versions.

Rated at 600 W output, the modules implement all the incoming power conversion, power management and power protection functionality necessary for supplying a fully populated MicroTCA system.

The modules are high power density, single-width units; the AC-input MTC600-AC version is 12 hp high and the DC-input MTC600-48 version is 9 hp high.

The MTC600-AC has an input range of 90 to 264 VAC, making it suitable for use with single-phase supplies virtually anywhere in the world, while the MTC600-48 has an input range of -39.5 to -72 VDC, which accommodates both -48 and -60 V battery plants.

The MTC800-48 also supports 1+1 input redundancy. It features dual A and B inputs with built-in O-ring devices and is equipped with internal fuses on both power feeds and return lines.

Both versions of the power module provide 16 output channels, each capable of delivering 12 V at 7.6 A of payload power and 3.3 V at 150 mA of management power.

The module automatically provides power for the MCH and CU system elements at power-up. All other output channels are controlled by the carrier manager, which communicates via the power module’s built-in intelligent platform management interface.

The series supports N+1 output redundancy and hot-swap operation and have module and channel fault isolation — if one module develops a fault, it will not cause the other to shut down.

MTC600 series is protected against overvoltage, undervoltage and overtemperature conditions and features monitoring and reporting for power system status and operational conditions.
