Luminus Devices PT-39-UV LED UV big chip LED

Tuesday, 19 February, 2013 | Supplied by: Mouser Electronics

Luminus Devices has released engineering samples of a UV big chip LED in Luminus’s PT-39 form factor. The PT-39-UV LED contains a single 3.9 mm2 die that maximises power density by emitting directly into air. They are available in a NIST-traceable power range output of 3.2 W in either 385 or 405 nm wavelengths.

They are suitable for UV life science, machine-vision and curing applications.

The LED solution provides all of the traditional advantages of Luminus’s Big Chip LED technology including good power density and thermal management, as well as simpler support system architecture. The device enables new UV applications that had been impractical for the mercury UV lamp due to short service life and durability issues. The solution is claimed to deliver long lifetimes, robust construction, good energy efficiency, as well as zero toxic emission and disposal issues.
