International Rectifier IRS2500 µPFC power factor correction control IC

Monday, 30 January, 2012 | Supplied by: Avnet Electronics Marketing

International Rectifier has introduced the IRS2500 µPFC power factor correction control IC for switch mode power supply, LED drivers, fluorescent and HID electronic ballast applications.

The controller can be configured to operate in critical conduction boost PFC or flyback configuration. The device also features a total harmonic distortion optimisation circuit to reduce line current harmonics. The controller has high noise immunity.

The device has micro power start up current of less than 50 µA, quiescent current of 2.5 mA, drive capability of +800/-600 mA as well as static and dynamic over-voltage and over-current protection.

The short minimum on time of the device allows wide input range power factor correction for universal input operation.
