Epcos has developed a series of MKT film capacitors that are rugged and have low capacitance drift.

After a 1000 h test at 85 °C, 85% relative air humidity and 240 VAC, their maximum capacitance change is less than 10%.

The capacitors of the B3293 series cover a range from 0.1 to 10 µF and are designed for a nominal voltage of 305 VAC to IEC 60384-14. Their maximum operating temperature is 105 °C.

The types with capacitances of up to 2.2 µF have X2 safety certification (IEC 60384-14/EN 60384-14).

Applications of these new capacitors include situations where reliability is paramount, such as in motor vehicle electronics or those in which an uncontrolled change in capacitance can lead to a malfunction of the circuit.

The devices can also be used outdoors due to their high resistance to humidity and are suitable for home appliances, power meters and smoke alarms, as well as for motion sensors and rolling shutters.
