Linear Technology Corporation has announced the LT1715, a dual comparator. With 150 MHz toggle frequency and 4 ns propagation delay, the device meets or exceeds the performance requirements of a wide range of high-speed applications.
The LT1715 supports supply voltages from 2.7 to 10.5 and can be operated using its independent analogue and digital supply pins.
It offers a wide input range that extends 100 mV below the negative rail and rail-to-rail outputs for compatibility with both 3 and 5 V logic.
The device's four independent supply pins permit the use of ±5 V analogue supply to accommodate large amplitude inputs while allowing a low voltage digital supply for high-speed logic compatibility. The analogue and digital supply pins can be tied.
When used with separate supplies, the LT1715 is designed to tolerate any power sequencing at turn on and turn off.
It includes internal hysteresis, which prevents oscillation and makes it easier to use than many other high-speed comparators and it features a pin-out that uses the power rails to shield the inputs from the potential parasitic effects of the fast switching output.
This feature set makes the LT1715 suitable for use in a wide variety of high-speed signal processing applications from clock recovery to telecommunications, or high-speed test equipment.
