Backplane Systems has released its latest Microspace boards, the MSMP3SEN and MSMP3SEV, designed and manufactured by Digital-Logic AG.

The devices are high-quality PC/104plus boards based on a Pentium III processor and can support up to 800 MHz. These compact boards have many features that are important in embedded applications. They include 16 MB up to 128 MB expandable SDRAM, a 256 KB L2 cache and a CompactFlash memory with up to 128 MB capacity. In addition, the boards provide a USB interface and a 10/100Base-T ethernet interface for fast communication in LANs.

This design has adopted an innovative cooling concept whereby the low-power consumption advantage allows them to be used in a wide range of sophisticated applications.

These include navigation systems, telecommunications, computer periphery, medical and measurement technologies, aviation and aerospace, automotive electronics and in internet terminals.

Features of the boards include an integrated RTC battery, support for EEPROM and external IrDA ports and system interfaces for PS/2 keyboard, PS/2 mousse, hard disk and floppy drive.

In addition, the board contains a watchdog, RS-232 ports for COM1 and COM2 and a printer interface. The modules operate with a 5 V/2.5 A power supply in the standard temperature range of -25 to +50°C.
