Impart Special Products, Australian supplier of Emergency Vehicle Control & Safety Systems, has announced iCAN, which is a programmable set of modules that interface into a vehicle's CAN Bus system to retrieve information for use by the vehicle’s body control system.
Computer Area Network, or CAN Bus systems, control most modern vehicle electrical systems and are used because they simplify installation and save weight through the reduction of cable required. However, they make it difficult for vehicle body builders to interface their systems to the vehicle's systems because traditional analog inputs/outputs do not exist on CAN systems.
The Impart iCAN product range removes this hurdle by interfacing directly into the vehicle CAN Bus. This allows vehicle body builders to provide safety lockout and monitoring capabilities as well as complex electronic control functions in their designs, at the same time reducing their labour and materials costs, thus giving them a competitive advantage.
Impart is a division of Inventis Technology (IVTT), whose engineering and manufacturing is based in Sydney. IVTT is in turn a division of listed Australian company Inventis.
